Currently... excited!!

listening: nothing new there really...
loving: We've got 5 more days with our students. Tomorrow we go to the zoo for our final field trip. I have some really awesome kids this year, but I also can't help to get excited for a fresh, new year.
thinking: I really hate laundry, so not only does it 'stink' to have to do laundry, when I don't do it, it just continues to 'stink.'
wanting: I've held on to clothes for so long. "Maybe I'll fit into it again soon...." "Maybe I'll find a place to where ____ to...." No Kelli. I need to purge and really eliminate clutter and kinda start a fresh, new, age appropriate look (apparently I'm all about "fresh and new" today)
needing: I always make basic slides for the week to help me get organized. This week especially is necessary since there's a lot of wonky things happening.
Bucket List: There's a lot that I WANT to do... luckily, I've got time this summer to do it. Some things include cleaning out that closet and to start building a new wardrobe. I also will be having another EL cluster classroom next year. I'll have the lowest ELs in the grade and I wasn't completely satisfied with the growth of the majority of my ELs this past year. I want to do some more learning and find some more strategies to help them be successful and I hope and pray that next year I will get to truly "co-teach" as this year wasn't co-teaching at all and I feel like that was a major factor in limited growth. And of course, I want to relax, create, and sit pool side. 5 more days...

  1. I have a rule for cleaning out my closet: If I haven't warn it in 6 months, it's gone! An easy way to keep track of this is by flipping the hangers in one direction, then flipping them the other way once you've worn the outfit. If the hanger is still facing the original direction after 6 months, it's gone!! And I'm totally with ya on laundry!

    1. That sounds like an awesome system!! I'm terrible with my clothes in just keeping them on their hangers and putting them away after laundry... maybe once I purge a bunch I could give this a whirl! Thanks for the recommendation and I hope you enjoy your Monday!! :)

  3. Just do it, clean it out!!! I did a major overhaul of my closets over Spring Break. I boxed it all up and was about to send it to Goodwill, but then my mom insist that we should have a garage sale this summer {which I think we are in a few weeks}. But if not, it is all stacked in her garage now! So at least it is out of my house. I told her if we don't have one by the time school starts back up, to Goodwill it all goes!!! I do have to say though my closets look a lot better. The only one I need to organize now it the pantry!!

    1. So jealous, Jamie! I bet it does feel nice just to get it out of your space, even if it is in the garage. I still have a box in my room from the last time I tried to clear out the closet to be sent off to Goodwill... I'm just so awful with finishing the job! Thanks for your motivation... it's gotta happen soon!! Have a great start to your week!

  4. I feel like you were reading my mind with your post today..haha! I feel the same way about laundry....and folding it after it's clean.... I also have a hard time getting rid of clothes, but I find when I do I get rid of so many. Good luck with getting rid of some stuff and hopefully starting new! :) Good luck with your last week with students. What a fun time of year.

    1. There was quite a few people who seem to be in our boat, Ana in terms of laundry. And I agree, folding is probably one of the worst parts (it's all hot and makes me hot). Have a great, Monday! :)

  6. What I hate about laundry the most is that I have to go from all the way upstairs to all the way downstairs to do it! BOO! And I don't fold socks. Hate it. Haha. Laundry does stink!

    1. Ditto, Lindsay! We have to go up and down 2 flights of stairs and share the laundry room with everyone else in the apartment so you never know if a machine is open when you make your trek! Have a great rest of the year!

  7. Oooh!! What I wouldn't give to coteach with YOU! :) We'd make a great team, I think! (As an ELL teacher, I spent most of my day coteaching in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms last year.) The two previous years I got to co-teach in the area of Language Arts/Shared Reading, and I felt like that was fairly successful. This past year I had to co-teach in the area of writing, and we all agreed that success was "limited" this year. :( What subject area do you coteach with your ELL teacher?

    1. Oh that would be SO fun!! And how sweet of you! I may need to pick your brain over the summer for some strategies/resources! I co-taught writing this past year... due to scheduling issues, that is the only time our EL teacher could get into my room. And although it was helpful, in other areas (particularly tested areas) the growth was very limited. As of now, I am scheduled to have her for reading next year, which I am super excited about! I'm thrilled to have two teachers in during reading, especially for small group time. Do you know what next year looks like for you?

  10. I wish that I could go through all my clothes and get a new summer wardrobe! I feel like my summer wardrobe is always totally lacking because I'm not working!
